ICON Central Laboratories Names New Scientific Support SpecialistDUBLIN, IRELAND, 10th January 2007, ICON Central Laboratories, a division of ICON plc (NASDAQ: ICLR), a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries today announced the appointment of Louise Drudy, PhD to the position of Scientific Support Specialist in its European laboratory. Dr. Drudy holds a doctorate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Trinity College Dublin. She comes to ICON from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Royal College of Surgeons where she held the position of Research Scientist.
"The addition of Dr. Drudy to our scientific staff will further enhance the clinical expertise and quality at our laboratory as we continue to add more advanced testing services," commented Clare O’Sullivan, General Manager for ICON Central Laboratories' European facility which is located in Dublin, Ireland. "This newly established position will also enable the European Laboratory to expand the consultative services we offer our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients as they require more custom laboratory capabilities and support for technology transfers," O’Sullivan added.
In addition to her responsibilities in the Dublin facility, Dr. Drudy will serve on the staff of ICON Central Laboratories’ Scientific Affairs Department, which is responsible for the company’s global standardisation and harmonisation program.
