Dublin, Ireland, November 12th 2007 – ICON plc (NASDAQ: ICLR), a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, today announced the appointments of Dr. James Conklin as Senior Vice President Medical & Scientific Affairs and Dr. Jonathan Goldman to the position of Chief Medical Officer, at ICON Medical Imaging.
Dr. Conklin will oversee regulatory, medical and scientific issues worldwide and provide client support in designing appropriate strategies for successful medical imaging analysis. He is one of the pioneers of commercial imaging core laboratories having served as the CEO and Chairman of Bio-Imaging Technologies, a company he founded in 1990. Dr. Conklin has also held senior executive positions at life science technology companies, ranging from genomics, to electronic data capture and computer aided detection imaging software. He was as a member of the advisory team to the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Department of Defence representative to the radiation science panel of the White House Office.
Dr. Jonathan Goldman will serve as Chief Medical Officer, ICON Medical Imaging. He is an internationally recognised cardiologist certified in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and CT Angiography, with extensive experience in other non-invasive imaging modalities in clinical trials. Dr. Goldman maintains clinical appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, UCSF, Division of Cardiology, Veterans’ Administration Hospital, San Francisco and as an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK. He joins ICON Medical Imaging from Point Biomedical where he held the role of Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Conklin will be based in the ICON Medical Imaging, Warrington, PA office and Dr. Goldman will be based out of San Francisco, CA.
